MICRO-DERMABRASION and ACNE
Micro-dermabrasion is a new technique to resurface and smooth the skin. It is safe, effective outpatient treatment for both active acne and scarring of any sort.
Its actions are to:
- Cleanse the skin
Like a vacuum cleaner it empties the blocked pores.
This is quite comfortable and does not require anaesthetic.
It gives a healthy red glow from increased circulation, oxygenation and nutrition to the skin.
- Smooth the skin
A fine jet of aluminium oxide crystals are sprayed on the skin.
This gently smooths the skin surface and removes the dead skin cell layer.
After the treatment there is redness due to increased circulation. This usually fades within a few hours. It can be covered with make-up if required. There is no discomfort after the treatment. There is no problem with returning to work.
Where can Micro-derambrasion be used?
Micro-dermabrasion is mainly used for acne, both acute and chronic scarring acne but it can be used on virtually any scar on the body.
Is there anywhere it can't be used?
There are no specific contraindications except
The recent use of the drug Ro-accutane®.
How many treatments will it take?
Multiple treatments are required over a period of time. About ten treatments may be average but severe cases of acne may require more. This can be done with a treatment every two to three weeks but it can be done weekly.
How long will it take?
Treatments will take about half an hour.
Is any other treatment required?
Micro-dermabrasion is used in conjunction with other medical therapy and skin care programs to ensure more rapid results in the treatment of acne. AUSES OF ACNE (Click for more information.)
